More than a magic act

Richard’s BGT appearances combined strong magic with stories, emotion and the experience of a serving soldier.
Rather than presenting a sequence of disconnected tricks, each routine gave the audience something to follow and care about. The military themes were personal, the storytelling was clear and the magic carried a sense of purpose.
That combination helped Richard stand apart throughout the series. By the final, viewers had not simply watched a magician progress through the competition — they had followed a story. The public vote completed the journey and changed the course of his career.
After BGT
From national television to major stages.
Winning Britain’s Got Talent opened the door, but the work that followed established Richard as a television performer, theatre headliner and entertainer for some of the world’s most recognised audiences.
The Royal Variety Performance
Later that year, Richard appeared on The Royal Variety Performance with a tribute to the Bomb Disposal Units of the British Armed Forces. The piece brought together the two defining strands of his story: military service and emotionally driven magic.
Performed before the then Prince Charles and Camilla, it showed that the storytelling audiences responded to on BGT could hold its own on one of the country’s most prestigious live stages.
Operation Magic & More
Richard went on to star in his own prime-time ITV special, Operation Magic, and continued to appear across national television as both a magician and presenter.
Those appearances allowed him to broaden the work beyond the competition format — from close-up encounters and large-scale routines to presenting, celebrity performances and pieces built around real people and their stories.
West End & UK Tours
Live performance became a major part of Richard’s career. He headlined Impossible in the West End, developed his own theatre productions and took family-friendly magic shows to venues across the UK.
Sold-out tours, headline appearances and bespoke productions gave him the chance to build complete evenings around real audiences — interactive, warm and different every night.
